This hulking, powerful beast has arrived in Marvel’s New York like a twisted natural disaster. She isn’t just a reporter for the Bugle, she’s also an integral member of the Spider-team, showing that heroes don’t need superhuman abilities. The incredible power of the symbiote forces Peter and Miles to face the ultimate test of strength, both inside and outside the mask, as they balance their lives, friendships and their duty to protect those in need. Miles fights for his life in Kraven’s arena against his worst enemy, as Peter works to track down and free Miles himself. Peter tracks the Lizard through the sewers of New York, fights the monstrous beast, and learns of the true nature of his new Black Suit.

With newly added rooftop launch points and wind tunnels across the city, flying is so in. In the 2018 PlayStation 4 game, Peter fought off members of the Sinister Six while juggling his relationship with Mary Jane. The story crescendoed with the death of Aunt May at the hands of Otto Octavius. Miles Morales lost his father in the events of that game, but later headlined a smaller follow-up title, where he saved the city from the corrupt tech corporation Roxxon Energy. Releasing exclusively on PlayStation 5, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the sequel to two past titles — one a familiar Peter Parker origin story; the other, Miles Morales’ main gaming debut.

Spider-Man 2 can be played from start to finish with a mouse and keyboard, but some actions feel clumsy with the default controls compared to using a controller. Not only that, but Spider-Man 2 gets a lot out of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, so PC gamers should specifically use a PS5 DualSense controller with the game. It’s serviceable with mouse and keyboard, but enhanced with DualSense.

While the game left some stories open for more down the road, Insomniac Games has addressed whether Spider-Man 2 will get any story DLC. The final trailer shows more of Venom and a newly revealed villain in the form of Sandman. It also shows more of the Venom in the symbiote form and how it affects Peter mentally with the black suit, as well as how Venom becomes his own humanoid form by latching onto one of the characters. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay and its previous iterations, similarly plays like the Arkham series, Assassin’s Creed series, and even Ghost of Tsushima.
While Spider-Man 2’s PC release is a good sign, there are no Spider-Man 2 DLC plans in the works. Spider-Man 2’s main story can be completed in around 12 to 15 hours, while getting 100% completion will take somewhere within 25 to 30 hours for most players. Some of the side content is underwhelming, but there is a lot of great stuff to check out as well. Instead of arriving on Earth via a meteorite, as it did in the video game, the Venom symbiote came to Earth already bonded to Spider-Man, fixing itself to him while he participated in the cosmic showdown SECRET WARS (1984).
One of them is the ability to glide – after launching themselves into the air, Peter and Miles can cover long distances without needing to keep using their webs. They can use aerodynamic tunnels scattered throughout New York to do so. Other than that, they have one exclusive skill tree each, making for three in total. We’ll gain many abilities known from the previous games as well as some entirely new ones, unique for each character, coming in handy in combat and during stealth. Miles, for example, can attach a string of web between two specific points, letting him get above enemies and take them out quietly – even two at a time if they position themselves correctly. 789win include chaining lightning or releasing lightning bursts.
Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite. They are evolving brawls packed full of danger that put all of your skills to the test. Dodges and parries are key, as well as using environmental tools dotted around the arenas for your benefit. One area that Insomniac has made improvements in is that Spider-Man 2 offers significantly more in the way of enemy variety, so you’ll no longer be battering the same five balaclava bullies with baseball bats. New factions and units, such as flamethrower-wielding cultists that keep you at a distance, flying drones, and hunters who deploy laser grids above your head to limit aerial attacks keep you on your sticky toes.
However, Sony Interactive Entertainment will offer you a bonus to log in — in Spider-Man 2’s case, that bonus is an early unlock for the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 suit. This game falls into the most common pitfall of big open world games. There are so few important landmarks in this version of New York City that the game could’ve taken place in a regular town and felt no different. However, there’s now a third strand shared by both characters, which is something entirely new to the series. With it you can build on the combat and traversal skills that you would want in either Spider-Man, creating a more rounded – and appropriately – symbiotic duo. Besides the change of main antagonists, there are also villains to fight against all across New York City.
The DualSense features the same color scheme and pattern, with the Spider-Man logo front and center on the touchpad. On top of that, it’s expected to set the scene ahead of the game’s arrival, giving us further insight into what Peter, Miles, and MJ have all been getting up to since their last appearance. As well as this, Scott Porter – who voiced Harry Osborn in the first Spider-Man game – confirmed that the character will be appearing in the sequel. In a now-deleted tweet, the actor revealed that, while the character will be coming back, he will not be lending his voice to the role.
